Should the website come second to the magazine?

by on 17 Jul, 2010

One of the biggest problems that print journalists cite when they are talking about their websites is lack of resources: lack of time, lack of money, lack of technical know-how.

So websites attached to print publications can end up looking like an unloved afterthought.

Does it have to be that way? Yes it’s hard, and getting harder, to get everything done.  But that’s not going to change.  And the web is not going to go away.

The great thing about the web is that it means we can do things for readers that we couldn’t do before.  And it doesn’t have to be a lot of extra work  or take a team of specialists.

See how this small Russian newspaper team took inspiration from what the New York Times does.

And get enthused.
